New at SU! Blog Hop - No Basic White

Welcome to the New at SU! Blog Hop!

Our theme for this month is No Basic White. This meant our projects could not contain any Basic White Cardstock. Now that was a challenge! I can't tell you how many times I reached for  Basic White Cardstock, ie my sentiment, my inside layer, my flowers & stems.

Fortunately I had been working on a new card kit featuring the Online Exclusive Hello, Irresistible Suite Collection (Available March 1st, 2023 ) and the designer series paper in this collection had a lovely but very subtle Soft Sea Foam  sheet that I could use for my stitched scalloped layer ( this would have been Basic White, reaching again here ). So I started by stamping my stems with Soft Succulent Ink on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. Then stamped my Marigold flower heads with Petal Pink & Flirty Flamingo Inks on Petal Pink Cardstock. That really changed the colors. the Marigold's now looked more like Calypso Coral Ink. I found the Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper (DSP) had an abstract design that worked well with my Marigolds. I put my scalloped rectangle back in the rectangle I had die cut it from, popped them both in my Stamparatus and stamped the sentiment with Soft Succulent Ink.

I'm really happy with the way this turned out. This particular stamp set also reminds me of Carnations which were one of my mother's favorite flowers. she always had them in her flower beds in a variety of colors. I will definitely by be stamping with this set a lot more in the future.

Now it's time to see how your next blog stop on our hop has dealt with the lack of Basic White Cardstock.
