Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop - Embossing Techniques

Welcome to this months Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop!

Our theme for this months hop is Embossing Techniques. This can be either dry embossing (using an embossing folder and a die cutting machine), or heat embossing ( using embossing powders, VersaMark Ink and a Heat Tool). I have used the Heat Embossing Technique on my project.

I'm using the Waves of Inspiration Bundle to demonstrate this technique. I used my Stamparatus & Sponge Daubers to apply  Bermuda Bay, Night Of Navy & Pacific Point ink to the large wave stamp. Stamped the image a number of times to build up the desired amount of color. Then used VersaMark Ink on this stamp and added Clear Embossing Powder to emboss the image. The clear embossing powder increases the depth of color. The top focal image was die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. At this point I stopped to color & cut the Pelican and boulder images.

I colored the Pelican image with Stampin' Write Markers ( Cinnamon Cider for the beak & feet, Night of Navy for the bird's body & Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the piling posts ). The boulders come from the Ocean Front Stamp Set and were stamped with Crumb Cake Ink and fussy cut with Snips. After I assembled the Pelican & boulder images I placed them on the stitched rectangle and stamped the tiny birds with Night of Navy Ink. I also stamped the sentiment with Night of Navy Ink on a strip of Basic White Cardstock. The sentiment on the inside credit card flap is from the Celebrating You StampSet. I matted the assembled stitched rectangle onto some Night of Navy Foil. This card base is Pacific Point and the Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper (DSP) was used on the Gift Card Front and inside Gift Card Flap & Trim. There are so many color choices with this DSP.

So the Bermuda Bay Gift card holder, the second one, is a stepped up version of the Pacific Point Gift Card Holder. On the second Gift Card Holder the card base is Bermuda Bay Cardstock. The focal image is again stamped with the same ink colors and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I then used a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink to add color to the sky. I wanted to add a little more spray to the wave and wanted you to be able to see the added spray. Once the sky was to my liking I used a paper towel to wipe off the the Balmy Blue on the wave. The ocean Front Stamp Set has a dotted stamp that worked pretty well. I used White Embossing Powder on the extra spray. I matted this rectangle on the Coastal Cabana Foil and matted the sentiment with the foil too. I used Bermuda Bay Ink on all of the sentiments.

I hope you enjoyed my Embossing Technique adventure. Now it is time to  see what other Embossing Techniques you will find along way. Next up is Susan Wester.
