Global Stamping Friends: Twisted

Welcome to the April GSF Blog Hop!
This Month's theme is Twisted. Well, what does that mean? In this case we are using a stamp set, die or tool in an unusual way. In other words not normal. Well rather than tax my itty bitty brain too much, I chose to create a flower with my Heart Punch.

I punched out 10 Hearts from our Watercolor Paper. I used Blushing Bride Ink and a Sponge Dauber to color the edges of the Heart. I used a 3/4" Circle Punch to cut the pointy tip Off of the Hearts. I spritzed the hearts, one at a time, with water and made accordion folds across the width of the Hearts (in hind site I might have used my Corrugated Embossing Folder). While the Hearts are still damp I encouraged a 1/4" fold along the bottom of the heart. This gave me a place to add adhesive. You also want to slightly cup each Heart.

I punched a 1" circle and used this as a base to adhere my Petals to. I did the outside petals 1st and then moved in. The Flower Center is a combination of Magnolia Memory Dies and the Perennial Essence Floral Centers. I colored the 3 Flower Center die cuts with Crushed Curry and my Aqua Painter Brush. While they were still damp I used my Stylus and my Stamp & Pierce Mat to Cup the die cuts by rubbing the centers in a circular motion. I adhered the Perennial Essence floral Center to the die cuts with Liquid Glue.I adhered the completed Flower Center to the Flower with Liquid Glue.
I used the leaves from the To A Wild Rose stamp set and stamped 3 with Old Olive Ink on Old Olive Cardstock. Then die cut them the Wild Rose Leaves Die.

Once my flower was complete I had to come up with something to put it on. I remembered a gorgeous gift box the Tammy Hewlett of Swimming in Stamps had made and  worked out the  for a fold flat box to fit a pair of Little Debbie Cakes. If you do Craft Fairs as I do make ahead boxes are a great thing to have handy. The box itself is a 8 1/4" x 9" piece of Purple Posy Cardstock. I used one 6" x 6" sheet of Best Dressed Designer Series Paper to decorate the box. The Tag is Purple Posy Stamped with Old Olive Ink using the Dressed To Impress Bundle. Finally the bow is Petal Pink Metallic Edged Ribbon combined with the White Tulle 5/8" Ribbon.

I hope you like my Twisted Inspiration for this month. Now it is time to travel on to see what Twisted Inspiration Amanda has for you this month.

  6. We had the same thought, 3D flowers! Yours is stunning. If you haven't told us how to make it, I would never know that is made out of multiple hearts.
