Welcome to the Third Thursdays Blog Hop!
January's theme is Sweat Treats. I love making little boxes, just in case you haven't figured that out yet. LOL I have made several over the holiday season and now it's time to think about Valentine's Day.
The From My Heart suite of products has been so much fun to play with. The Heartfelt Bundle includes 2 of the sweetest punches.and both of the punches will cut out images on the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP), I love it when Stampin' Up! does this. I have definitely made use of this feature. I have also used the adorable Stitched So Sweetly Dies in one of my projects for today. I have definitely made use of this feature. Let's start with the Candy Box. When I made this box I wanted to be able to get at least a full serving (listed as 4 pieces on the bag) of Dove Chocolates in it. I am really fond of 3" x 3" boxes. I made the lid to the box 1/8" larger than the bottom. Next time I make this I will take that down to 1/16" and make the bottom of the box 1/16" smaller instead of increasing the size of the Lid. The reason for this is that I want to be able to get the box lid out of a 6" x 6" piece of DSP.
So the box bottom is 5 15/16" x 5 15/16" of Real Red Cardstock. Score on all sides at 3/4" & 1 1/2"s. Fold along all score lines. NOTE- if yourcardstock is too thin it could crack. You can sometimes fold it in the wrong direction 1st. Then fold again in the correct direction. I'd try it on a scrap to test 1st.
Oops! The directions on the photo has an error (cut away corners with squares). It should read as Cut away the corners with scribbles. This box has reinforced sides.
This is the outside of the box bottom. You need to add adhesive to the small tabs. Then turn it over and add adhesive to the Box sides. Form the box by folding up the sides and adhering the small tabs to the inside of the box.
Here you can see the inside of the box. This shows where to put adhesive on the box sides.
The Box top is made the same way but the Cardstock size is 6" x 6". I have decorated the top of the box starting with a Scalloped Square of the From My Heart SDSP. I used our Layering Squares Dies. Then I adhered a Heart Doily to the Scalloped Square. I stamped the "Happy Valentine's Day" with Real Red Ink on Whisper White Thick Cardstock. I punched this out with the standard Heart Punch and layered this onto a Flirty Flamingo Scalloped Heart that I punched with the Companion Scalloped Heart Punch. to finish this project I added a small bow made with the Real Red 3/8" Double Stitched Satin Ribbon.
For the next project I created a Gift Card Holder or Fun Fold Card. The Card Base is Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2" and 9". I have used the From My Heart SDSP to decorate this card, as well as another of the adorable Heart Doilies. I pulled the "Happy Valentine's Day" from the Heart To Heart stamp set.
I really love the new Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I have used these on a couple od projects now. Here the largest Stitched Retangle makes the perfect focal point on this Gift card holder.
The bottom photo shows how the card can just be a card with a Fun Fold.
Wether you need a Gift Card Holder or just a card with a Fun Fold, this one can cover both needs.
Well, I think this post may have been over long, or should have been long over long ago? Anywho, I hope you enjoyed my take on this months theme. Now it is time to hop on over to someone's blog to see what Sweet Treat Inspiration she has for you today.
