New At SU! Blog Hop: Two-Tone Summer

Welcome to the June New At SU! Blog Hop!

This month's theme is all about Stampin' Ups! Two-Tone Cardstock. I was a little skeptical when this was introduced. Admittedly I can't stuck in a rut. Always approaching my craft in one direction. But recently I have become a fan of Two-Tone Cardstock. So many different ways to use it. With its white core, it can be torn to expose it or sanded to expose it. You get 2 colors in one sheet. Instant shading! But my favorite thing is how much it lightens my layering. I love my layers. I have been playing around with creating folios. The 1st one I made used my regular cardstock. Trying to get this to fold was difficult. Then adding embellishments or dimensionals was a challenge too. I am working on the second one and am much happier using Two-Tone Cardstock and my DSP for all of the layering.

I have cased the cover of Gail Ellis's new Polaroid Flip Album when I created this card. My card base & card front are Basic White Thick Cardstock. the Polaroid layer and the torn layer are from the Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper (DSP). The film strip and the camera are die cuts from the Capturing Smiles Bundle (bundle = stamps & die sets). The camera was stamped with Pool Party Ink (I don't understand why the ink looks so green, sorry) and the film strip has been die cut from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock. The butterfly is from the Extraordinary Life Bundle and has been stamped with Basic Black Ink. The Pool Party mat layer behind the polaroid frame is from the Two-Toned Cardstock. I added a few Pool Party Dots to finish this project.

I have begun adding a couple, sometimes more than a couple, of packs of the Two-Toned Cardstock to each of my orders. I do order the assortment packs that coordinate with the suites that I have purchased, but I can feel the need for more in my bones, LOL.

  1. I can imagine adding a small photo of a time spent with a friend to this card, capturing a "good time" together and personalizing a thank you card!
