New At SU! Blog Hop - Crafting In Color

Welcome to the May 2025 New @ SU! Blog Hop

This month we are all showcasing the New 2025-2027 In Colors. In Colors are only available for 2 years. Which is why I always order extra cardstock and a re inker of my favorite colors. This year's colors are shown below.

I have chosen Cloud Cover & Secret Sea for the main colors in my project. The Sunrise Sailing Bundle is a hybrid bundle, it includes the Sunrise Sailing stamp set, the Sunrise Sailing Dies & the Sunrise Sailing Hybrid Embossing Folder. I am so addicted to the hybrid embossing folders, are you? For this project, a side step card, I stamped the large sail boat on a 2 5/8"W x 3 3/8"H piece of Basic White Cardstock. Then positioned it in the embossing folder to emboss & die cut the large sail boat. The extra dimension & detail that the hybrid folder and die together is wonderful. I wish you could see it in person. Oh wait, you can see it in person, if you purchase the bundle from me ($50.25 and you will have earned $5.02 in Stampin' Rewards). Or, if you already own this bundle, You might like to make a side step card like I did.

I found the written directions for this side step fun fold on Pinterest ( of course now I can't find it). The card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" I used Cloud Cover Cardstock. My mats are all Secret Sea Cardstock. the largest sail boat has been stamped with Secret Sea Ink. The detail on the sails is Cloud Cove Ink. And the detail on the boat is Early Espresso Ink. I embossed just the water area 3 times to get my water layers. I used a Sponge Dauber to add some Cloud Cover Ink to the ripples on the water. The die cut sky area on the left has been colored with a small Blending Brush and Cloud Cover Ink. The cloud is a diet cut and added color with a Blending Brush & Cloud Cover Ink along the bottom edge of the cloud. The birds are die cut from Secret Sea Cardstock. The smaller boats are die cuts using Basic White, Basic Beige, Pecan Pie & Cherry Cobbler Inks. I did emboss the sails of the middle sail boat with the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder. The sentiment has been heat embossed with the Wow White Embossing Powder on Secret Sea Cardstock and die cut with the smallest Stylish Shapes sentiment die.

On the back of this side step fun fold I used a couple of dies fro the Textured Notes Dies. I knew I needed a place for a comment or salutation, so this is how I handled that. And of course I added another little Sailboat.

I hope you liked my project. Now I will send you on to your next In Color Blog stop.

  1. If there was ever a perfect side-step card, THIS IS IT! You've captured depth of vision with graduating sizes of sailboats, and the In Colors were the ideal colors to use.
